Now That’s What I Call November

The past month has been a month and a half for new releases from some of my all-time favourites – and new discoveries! It’s safe to say that our ears have been well and truly treated! With this in mind, I thought it would be nice to share a few tracks that I have had on-loop over the past few weeks, for your listening pleasure! Here we go…

First Up – “Cheaply Bought and Expensively Sold” by Declan Welsh and The Decadent West. It has been quite a while since I’ve been this hooked on an album, however, Declan and the band have absolutely smashed it out the park.

Lucia and The Best Boys “Good Girls Do Bad Things” – having waited in anticipation for another release from Lucia who are one of my favourite bands on the scene right now, I am over the moon to report that it is nothing but pure gold. The production, Lucia’s hauntingly good vocals – I LOVE, and let’s not forget about the killer music video. Anyone who can look that cool riding a horse in up the Barras is a winner in my books.

If you listen to one cover this week, it HAS to be this. Since hearing Joesef cover The Cure’s iconic “Boys Don’t Cry” on BBC Introducing last month, I have been replaying this dream of a session again and again. At this point, I’m almost certain that I have accounted for at least 50% of these video streams… In all seriousness, this legendary track paired with Joesef’s silky smooth tones makes for an absolute treat!

Since catching The S.L.P’s insane live show at SWG3 a few months back, his self titled album has pretty much been the soundtrack to my daily commute. With each track entirely different to the one before, but packed with hooks and funky a.f percussion at the same time, it is definitely one of my favourite releases of the year!

Yes, you guessed it, another track from The View. Although it’s not a new release by any means, the band’s Ropewalk album has been a firm favourite of mine this month. Sometimes, there’s nothing better than re-visiting a gem of an album – and reliving all the good memories that it brought with it. It’s safe to say that I am pretty buzzing to catch Kyle live at The Bungalow, Paisley set the end of December!
