Its here! I’m so excited to finally share my re-vamped blog site with ya. With a whole new name change and a new blogging chapter about to start, I thought it would be a good idea to have a good old ramble about what you can expect from Grlband.com.
Farewell, Lindsey Lou Blogs.
Over the past few months I really struggled to find the motivation to blog. The root of this? Well, I think part of me had fallen out of love with the content I was creating – and the content I felt like I should be creating as a lifestyle blogger. Whilst working a full-time 9-5, I believe that you really need to love your side hustle as your free time becomes a little more precious and for me – that just wasn’t the case. So, rather than continuing to post for the sake of posting, it was time for my blog and me to go on a break.
However, during this “breakup” I made a conscious effort to put a lot more effort into my Insta-content. I switched up my go-to editing style and started to post a lot more about the things I’m truly passionate about – mainly fashion and music.
Since mixing things up I’ve gotten so much satisfaction out of creating content that’s a lot more me. As they say – the only way to do great work is to love what you do, and this has certainly been the case for me. I feel like I have finally found my true ~brand voice ~ and that feels pretty damn good! As a result of posting this style of content I’ve also received some of the loveliest feedback over the past few months and have had the opportunity to work with some of my favourite brands in the world. However, I couldn’t help but think that it would be a shame to completely disregard my website altogether. So, instead I have decided to completely revamp my blog, with a brand new name, design (logo by the amazingly talented Olivia Illustrations) and vibe. Meet – GRLBAND.co.uk
In terms of content, I will be focussing a lot more on three main areas – music, fashion and cool girls doing cool things. Of course, there will be the odd piece of lifestyle content thrown in there for good measure but primarily, those are the areas I’d love to hone in on. Anyone who knows me (irl) knows that I am a huge music lover – I spent four years studying my undergrad in music business and the first blog I ever created was actually a music blog. However, in the past I have almost shied away from sharing music related posts as I didn’t think anyone out there would be interested. For some reason, I’ve always been under the impression that those who come to my blog for fashion content wouldn’t be interested in music based posts – and this still might be the case. However, if I’ve learned anything from blogging it is that your platform is exactly that – yours. Your outlet to create whatever you want. Since working with some really cool festivals this summer, I’ve realised that music is something that I would love to chat about a lot more – so that is exactly what I plan on doing.
To be completely honest, I had been dying to change my blog’s name for forever, so I thought what better time than now eh? I hope ya like it! I’ve always wanted to be in a band so I guess this is kind of the same thing right? Albeit a one girl band at the moment, but that’s where you (hopefully) come in!
The Girl Band Collective – Wanna be in the band?
As I mentioned earlier, in addition to my music and fashion content, I will be introducing a new blog series titled The Girl Band Collective. In a nutshell, this will celebrate creative girls doing cool things. So whether you are a blogger, music lover, designer, musician or have a creative project you’d like to share, I’d love to hear all about it!
Come together – The #GRLBANDCOLLECTIVE Community
Over the past few months, I have really enjoyed engaging with other creators via Instagram’s community hashtags, For example, #blogandbeyond by Charlotte and #theslowsundayclub by Allie and Sophie. I love the idea of being able to click and instantly view content that I know I will love from some really cool creators! That’s why I thought it would be a good idea to create my own community tag – #GRLBANDCOLLECTIVE. Whether you are a blogger, creative, fashionista or an expert playlist maker – tag away and share your posts! I would really love to see your pics and hope that enjoy discovering and engaging with content from fellow creative babes too! I have also created a separate Instagram account @grlbandcollective which will be dedicated to reposting and sharing the love for all of the fab content posted users of the hashtag too! Why not check it out!
I could ramble on for hours about how excited I am to be back blogging again, but I’ll nip it in the bud for now eh? I’m pretty sure I’ve covered everything you need to know about the re-brand / redesign (I hope so anyway). If you have any questions or would be interested in chatting about a Girl Band Collective feature, please don’t hesitate to get in touch – I would love to hear from ya.
